New tools for mechanical weed control in low-input dry bean (<i>Phaseolus vulgaris)</i> production

چکیده
Camera-guided narrow (15 cm)-row, inter-row cultivation, with or without the Einböck rotary weeder, reduced weed growth but had lower yield than herbicide-treated dry beans. In wide rows (60 cm), camera guidance improved finger weeder performance and mechanically weeded bean yields were similar to herbicide treatment.

Weed genomics: new tools to understand weed biology.
In spite of the large yield losses that weeds inflict on crops, we know little about the genomics of economically important weed species. Comparative genomics between plant model species and weeds, map-based approaches, genomic sequencing and functional genomics can play vital roles in understanding and dissecting weedy traits of agronomically important weed species that damage crops. Weed geno...
متن کاملRottboellia cochinochinensis, a new weed for Iran
During plant collecting for a herbarium in Khuzestan province (Iran), the weed species Rottboellia cochinochinensis (Loureiro) Clayton from family Poaceae was collected. In this paper, the species is reported for the first time from Iran.
متن کاملPest, pathogen, and weed control for increased food production.
If the ideal of assured "Food for All" is to be attained, it will be necessary to do a better job of preventing the debilitation or destruction of crop plants by noxious weeds, voracious animals, and devastating plant diseases. For these destructive agents continually tend to nullify the constructive efforts to increase food production. Food production per unit area of land has been increased g...
متن کاملMesotrione – a New Herbicide for Weed Control in Maize
Six field trials were conducted over three growing seasons to evaluate both pre-and post-emergence applications of the recently developed herbicide mesotrione, for weed control in maize. As a pre-emergence treatment it provided excellent control of broadleaf weeds (>99% reduction in dry matter) but was poor on grass weeds (ca 80% reduction). However, its combination with atrazine, s-metolachlor...
متن کاملBenefits of Precision Farming Technologies for Mechanical Weed Control in Soybean and Sugar Beet—Comparison of Precision Hoeing with Conventional Mechanical Weed Control
Weed infestations and associated yield losses require effective weed control measures in soybean and sugar beet. Besides chemical weed control, mechanical weeding plays an important role in integrated weed management systems. Field experiments were conducted at three locations for soybean in 2013 and 2014 and at four locations for sugar beet in 2014 to investigate if automatic steering technolo...
